Day 1: Arrive in Cairo

Day 2: Cairo & Saqqara

Begin the day with a visit to the iconic Great Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx of Giza, where the scale and presence of these ancient landmarks leave a lasting impression. Accompanied by an expert guide, gain insight into the history, symbolism, and construction of the world’s most famous monuments.

Later, experience a taste of modern Egyptian life with a visit to a local agricultural setting, where you’ll learn about traditional farming practices and food culture. Enjoy a relaxed, locally inspired lunch before continuing your journey through the surrounding countryside.

In the afternoon, travel to Saqqara, home to Egypt’s earliest pyramids. Explore this important archaeological site and uncover the origins of pyramid construction and early burial traditions before returning for an evening at leisure.

Day 3: Aswān & Philae Temple

Depart Cairo on an early flight to Aswan, where your day begins with a visit to Philae Temple, a beautifully preserved temple complex dedicated to the goddess Isis. Set amid the Nile, the temple’s reliefs and architecture offer insight into ancient Egyptian mythology and religious practices, as well as the remarkable efforts made to relocate the site after the creation of Lake Nasser.

As evening approaches, enjoy time on the Nile, taking in the scenery and relaxed pace of life along the river. Visit a nearby Nubian village to learn about local customs, traditions, and daily life, before sharing a traditional dinner in a welcoming local home.

Day 4: Aswān & Abu Simbel

This morning, fly south to Abu Simbel, where you’ll explore the monumental rock-cut temples built during the reign of Ramses II. These awe-inspiring structures stand as a testament to ancient engineering and artistic achievement.

Learn about the extraordinary international effort led by UNESCO that saved the temples from flooding in the 20th century. After your visit, return to Aswan for lunch and a relaxed afternoon at leisure.

In the evening, you may choose to attend a sound and light show at Philae Temple, offering a dramatic nighttime perspective on this historic site.

Day 5: Kom Ombo, Edfu & Journey to Luxor

After breakfast, travel north along the Nile, passing villages and farmland en route to the Temple of Kom Ombo. Uniquely positioned along the river, this temple is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and offers sweeping views of the Nile.

Continue onward to the well-preserved Temple of Edfu, one of Egypt’s most complete ancient temples and dedicated to Horus, god of the sky and kingship. Explore the site before enjoying lunch and continuing the scenic drive to Luxor.

Day 6: Luxor West Bank

Today, explore the West Bank of Luxor, home to some of ancient Egypt’s most significant archaeological sites. Begin with a visit to the renowned Valley of the Kings, where generations of pharaohs were laid to rest. Descend into several royal tombs, with the option to visit the burial chamber of Tutankhamun.

Continue to the impressive Temple of Hatshepsut, a striking mortuary temple dedicated to one of Egypt’s most powerful rulers. Learn about its history, architecture, and ongoing archaeological work in the area.

Conclude your exploration with a stop at the towering Colossi of Memnon, once guardians of a vast temple complex. Enjoy a late lunch in a local setting before returning to Luxor for the evening.

Day 7: Luxor

Spend the morning exploring the ancient city of Luxor with a visit to the remarkable Karnak Temple, once considered the religious heart of ancient Egypt. Dedicated primarily to Amun-Ra, this vast temple complex evolved over nearly two thousand years, with successive pharaohs adding halls, pylons, and sanctuaries that together form one of the largest religious sites ever built.

Following your visit, enjoy time at leisure to relax or continue exploring Luxor independently. In the evening, regroup for a visit to Luxor Temple, beautifully illuminated after dark. Seeing these monuments lit against the night sky offers a dramatic and memorable perspective on their scale and significance.

Day 8: Luxor to Cairo

This morning, return to Cairo, where your exploration continues in the historic district of Coptic Cairo. Visit some of the area’s most important religious landmarks, including the Hanging Church, Church of St. Sergius and Bacchus, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue, each reflecting centuries of layered history and cultural coexistence.

The remainder of the afternoon is yours to explore Cairo at your own pace. In the evening, discover the city through its food culture, visiting a selection of local eateries and neighborhood food spots while learning about traditional Egyptian dishes and their role in everyday life.

Day 9: Cairo

Begin the day with a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum, one of the world’s most significant archaeological museums. Explore exhibits that trace the evolution of ancient Egyptian civilization, showcasing artifacts from across the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms.

Later, continue to Khan El Khalili, Cairo’s most famous market and a vibrant center of trade since the 14th century. Wander through its winding alleys filled with spices, textiles, jewelry, and handcrafted goods. From here, stroll along Al-Muizz Street, one of the oldest streets in the city, lined with historic mosques, madrasas, and bustling shops, offering a lively finale to your time in Egypt.
